A wildlife welfare organisation is appealing for new rescuers to help with its increasing workload.
East Sussex Wildlife Rescue and Ambulance Service (WRAS) needs volunteers, particularly in the Eastbourne, Hailsham, Bexhill and Hastings areas.
Trevor Weeks, county rescue co-ordinator for WRAS, said: "We have 12 rescuers spread between Brighton and Eastbourne and, like me, they are all volunteers.
"But we are desperately in need of more help between Eastbourne and Hastings as the number of calls we receive a year is between 3,000 and 4,000."
Volunteers must be at least 18 and do not need any previous experience in handling wildlife casualties.
New members must be willing to learn, have a lot of common sense, be practical and be willing to get dirty.
