I was so glad to see other readers complaining about the Tesco site in Church Road, Hove (Letters, July 9).

Typically, the weight of big business runs roughshod over history, nature, people and quality of life.

I feel for the church and other residents soon to have cars and lorries around them all hours of the day and night; not to mention the noise and pollution that has been going on day-in, day-out.

This is another prefabricated carbuncle out of keeping with the area, allowed to pollute the skyline in the name of big business.

What has Brighton and Hove become? This is the downside of city status, which I wish had never happened.
