Murray Goodwin captains Sussex against the country he played 19 Tests for with no regrets that he turned his back on international cricket.

Goodwin leads the county for the first time today in the four-day tour match at Hove against some of his former Zimbabwe team-mates.

The 30-year-old played his last Test three years ago and turned down the chance to return for the World Cup earlier this year after an approach from the Zimbabwe Cricket Union.

He said: "I've no regrets. Of course I would like to still be playing international cricket, but I'm very happy with my decision to stop playing for Zimbabwe and concentrate on county cricket and playing for Western Australia.

"Everytime Zimbabwe are on television I will watch because I like to see how some of my old team-mates are going. But now my focus is on playing for Sussex and long may that continue."

Several fringe players get a chance to impress and earn places in the side for next week's Championship game against Nottinghamshire and Sussex have cut admission to £10 adults, £7 students and OAPs and £3 under-16s.

Horsham youngster Andrew Hodd, who has impressed in the second XI this season, will keep wicket while two left-armers, Paul Hutchison and Jason Lewry, will share new ball duties.
