Burgess Hill will be playing Dr Martens League football next season.

The County League champions have been accepted into the eastern division for next season.

Burgess Hill director Gary Croydon said: "We are really excited. We want to do the county proud in that league.

"With County League clubs it is a big step to make. It is a big financial commitment. As long as we get the support of local people and from the town itself we will be fine."

The Hillians will be hoping to repeat the success of the last side to progress from the County League.

Croydon added: "Eastbourne Borough have been fantastic. We have one eye looking at them and thinking if we can achieve that we will do well."

Manager Danny Bloor said: "This is the pinnacle of a lot of hard work from people at Burgess Hill on and off the pitch.

"Big plaudits to Gary Croydon and Eddie Benson (fellow director). They took the club over and have done a fabulous job to be able to put us in the position to progress up the leagues."
