What a very sad world we live in when we hear the story of man such as Tony Lovell who, despite being disabled, has worked so hard to brighten up the communal area outside his council flat in Pashley Court, Shoreham - not only for himself but for other tenants (The Argus, May 7).
He has provided a bench for their use if they wish to sit in a tranquil spot and look at flowers instead of a blank canvas.
He has now been ordered by Adur District Council, in its infinite wisdom, to dig up all his display within seven days.
We are told there have been complaints from other residents. I wonder what these complaints are?
Perhaps cigarette ends and other objectionable items would be more to their liking?
A little help from able-bodied residents would not go amiss and I am sure the grass is not cut every day.
We need more people such as Mr Lovell to brighten up this dark world.
I hope, with all its objections, the council has at least congratulated him on his endeavour.
