Cuckmere League: Lee Poulton hammered 129 as Alfriston began their title defence with a comprehensive victory against Burwash.

Poulton and Matthew Harmer put on an opening stand of 191 to send Alfriston on their way to a total of 229-2.

In reply, Burwash were dismissed for 80 with Paul Rowe's 3-17 being the pick of the bowling.

Blackboys and Selmeston, who had began a week earlier, both made it two wins out of two.

Gary Funnell hit an unbeaten 98 as Blackboys won by nine wickets at home to Denton.

Rob Coggins (43) had helped Denton to 171-6 but Blackboys passed that in just 30 overs thanks to Funnell and Mick Pilmoor (54).

Selmeston totalled 137 all out away to Withyham with Patrick Hole's 27 being the top score. Brian Yo1rke took 4-29 for the hosts but they were dismissed for 92 in reply with Dave Clark claiming 4-21.

Mike Bush hit 30 as East Dean posted a disappointing 117-8 but that proved more than enough against Bells Yew Green, who were skittled for 87 in reply with Danny Hill taking 5-20. Paul Barton scored 32 for BYG.

The second division programme begins this weekend.
