A senior member of Worthing town hall's backroom staff will put on a colourful bra to "moonwalk" through the streets of London at night in aid of charity.

Wendy Knight lost her best friend to cancer last year and was determined to raise cash for Macmillan Cancer Relief, which helped the family through difficult times.

Wendy said: "My friend Pip was very brave and courageous, as were her young children Catherine and Richard who she left behind.

"During this difficult time, all of them were helped by Macmillan Cancer Relief staff and the local hospice, which freely gave fantastic support, hope and comfort.

"I heard about the moonwalk through Pip's sister and so my sister and other friends decided it was the least we could do to raise more money to beat this terrible disease.

"The 26-mile walk will go through the streets of London at night on Saturday and we will be in our decorated bras courtesy of Playtex, sponsors of the event.

"The event was started six years ago by a lady who beat breast cancer, and the concept of walking in bras became so popular that the moonwalk was born.

"So far it has raised £5 million for breast cancer research and cancer care.

"The next marathon is in New York in November and we are after substantial sponsorship, in the region of £1,800 per walker, so if any one is interested in sponsoring, call me on 01273 555080."
