My 90-year-old mother was admitted to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, recently and, having heard many unfavourable comments about the care and cleanliness, I was very anxious.

However, for the time she spent on the eighth floor of the Millennium wing, I have nothing but high praise.

The unit was spotless and the staff treated mum with respect and care and allowed her to die with some dignity, for which my dad and I were very grateful.
