Crawley Town manager Francis Vines praised striker Danny Hockton after his hat-trick helped Reds secure their biggest win of the season.

They beat Weymouth 5-0 at Broadfield Stadium in the premier division.

Vines said: "Danny produced three good finishes and I brought him off because he was receiving a good reception, unlike the rest of the season."

Hockton's treble means, despite his unpopularity among fans, he has overtaken Dave Stevens as the club's second highest scorer with 15 goals from 25 starts plus 22 appearances from the subs' bench.

Hockton's star act was supported with further strikes from Mo Harkin and youth team player Shaheen Sadough, who has now scored twice in three first team starts.

HASTINGS United ended a disappointing season in the premier with a 2-0 defeat at home to second-placed Stafford Rangers.

The match burst into life on the half-hour when a clumsy foul by Paul Ruddy sparked a mass brawl. Three players from each team received cautions including Steve Yates, whose second yellow saw him dismissed.

Stafford made the extra man tell by scoring twice in a minute just before half-time.

Gary Fife and seconds later Paul Szewczyk got the goals.
