It's a week of up-and-coming acts with Aqualung, Radio 4, Agent J and The Warlocks all playing in Sussex.

AQUALUNG, Gardner Arts Centre, Falmer, April 12 Following a heartfelt show at Duke Of York's Cinema in Brighton last December, Matt Hales will play tracks such as the VW Beetle advert tune Strange and Beautiful at the larger Gardner Arts Centre venue. Writing songs from the age of four, it seems Southampton-born Matt was always destined for the music world. Starts 7.30pm, tickets £9.50. Call 01273 685861.

RADIO 4, Concorde 2, Madeira Drive, Brighton, April 13 This New York quartet's brand of disco punk is said to put energy, funk and attitude back into dance music. The band claim they stood in a club doorway between a new wave room and one featuring ten live percussionists to study the sound they wanted to recreate on their second album, Gotham. Starts 7.30pm, tickets £8. Call 01273 772770.

AGENT J, Pressure Point, Richmond Place, Brighton, April 14 Brighton-based singer/songwriter Agent J, with his four-piece band, has already established a wide local fan base and had his self-funded singles Big Blue Sky and American Eyes played on nationwide commercial radio. Starts 8pm, tickets £4/£3. Call 01273 702333.

THE WARLOCKS, Concorde 2, Madeira Drive, Brighton, April 15 This LA band are billed as being what rock 'n' roll is all about, defining themselves as the modern version of The Velvet Underground and The Rolling Stones. Following a US tour as support for Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, the six-piece have just released an album and are due to play Glastonbury this summer. Starts 8pm, tickets £7. 01273 772770.
