In response to Conservative councillor Geoff Wells (Letters, March 20) and to reassure readers that Craig Turton's letters reflect concerns felt by large numbers of Labour Party supporters, myself included.

Indeed, we greatly appreciate the eloquent way he has expressed the concerns about the war with Iraq.

Mr Wells should take note that in the Labour Party, if we have disagreements about policy, such as Iraq, we at least listen to each other with respect and tolerance unlike local Tories where dissent is not tolerated and members are forced out of their party to stand as Lib-Dems (for example Couns Jenny Langston-Barnard and Mark Barnard).
