Hastings United have signed striker Rob Collins from Horsham in the hope he will score the goals to get them out of relegation trouble in the Premier Division.

Collins has signed on loan until the end of the season with a view to a permanent deal.

Horsham say they want a fee for Collins, who has scored 20 goals for the Ryman League club this season.

Collins, who has also played for Crawley, had a turbulent spell at Queen Street and has missed the last three games after demanding to go on the transfer list.

Two weeks ago he failed to turn up for the trip to the Met Police and missed the following match against Epsom despite being fit.

Earlier in the season he quit the club saying he wanted a break from football but returned a week later.

Hastings, who currently fill one of the four relegation places after a run of one win in 17 league games, are likely to give Collins his debut at Grantham tomorrow.

Manager George Wakeling said: "Hopefully he will be a good signing for us. He has scored goals at every club he has been to, so we are hoping he will carry on doing that here."

Hastings were given a timely reminder of their need for a striker in last week's 4-1 home defeat by Welling.

Paul Jones, last season's top scorer at the Pilot Field, scored two of the goals and United have yet to find a replacement for the 22-year-old, who joined Welling at the beginning of the season.

Wakeling brought in Ellis Remy, but the former Wimbledon apprentice has only scored five goals and has struggled with a hamstring injury for most of the campaign.

Wakeling said: "I have been looking for some time and have been close to signing a few players but they were asking for silly money and I wasn't prepared to give it to them.

"We need to score more goals and that is why I am trying to bring strikers in, but we showed last week that we also need to stop letting them in as well."

Paul Ruddy misses the trip to Grantham as he starts a three-match suspension and Steve Yates is serving a one-match ban after picking up five bookings this season.

Landry Zahana-Oni returns after a one match suspension and Duncan McArthur has recovered from flu.

Meanwhile, Crawley should be back to something approaching full strength for the home game against Moor Green.

Seven players missed Wednesday's 1-0 win at Tiverton, but Mo Harkin, Nic McDonnell, Peter Fear, Stewart Holmes and Danny Hockton are all available.

Midfielder Neil Le Bihan is fit again after a knee injury and plays in the reserves.
