The retirement of Wendy Toms as chairwoman of the Southern England Region Rail Passengers' Committee will be a tremendous loss.
Wendy and staff transformed an unknown, insignificant government Quango into a successful, vibrant and impartial rail passengers' forum respected throughout a railway industry with an underfunded, inadequate and out-of-date infrastructure.
