Albion boss Steve Coppell fears Ivar Ingimarsson's stint with the Seagulls could be curtailed by Wolves.

Coppell is keen to stretch the Icelandic international's month-long loan from Molineux to boost the Division One survival bid.

That will depend on Wolves being injury-free as they battle for honours in both the FA Cup and play-off chase.

Coppell said: "Now that we are coming up to the transfer deadline loans could be significant, that extra little push from a loan at the right time or in our particular case having loans recalled.

"When we started Ivar's loan Dave Jones said he would be comfortable at that time to extend because he had everyone fit, but it would be on an instant recall basis.

"Given what they are involved in if they have problems then we will just have to accept it. Robbie Pethick is fit now, so we have got that little bit more insurance."

Albion have kept consecutive clean sheets since Ingimarsson took over from back injury victim Pethick in the centre of defence.

Coppell was happy with the versatile 25-year-old's home debut in last Saturday's 1-0 win against Millwall.

"I thought he started really nervously, but after he won a few headers he came on to his game," Coppell said.

"I am not really worried when there are forwards around him, because I know he is an accomplished defender."

Ingimarsson's fellow loan signing Anthony Rougier has six more matches to add to his debut winner against Millwall, as his stay from Reading will not be extended.

"It has been established that Tony is for one month," Coppell revealed.

"Alan Pardew said to me that Luke Chadwick will go back to Manchester United come what May, so they would need Tony back.

"They hope he gets games here and does well so that he goes back to them flying. Hopefully it's a win-win situation for both clubs."

Adam Virgo, in action for the reserves at Colchester today, has returned from a three-month loan spell with Exeter ahead of schedule after dropping out of first team contention.

"Virgo has come back from Exeter a week early because he wasn't going to be used by them," Coppell explained. "Rather than just staying there he may as well train with us and play for the reserves."

Bottom club Stoke, four points adrift of Albion with a match in hand, entertain Walsall tonight.
