My son Chris was with us for Christmas from the US, with his family.
I bought Brighton Remembered as a present to put under the tree and, glancing through it, lo and behold, there was a picture of Chris on page 69.
He has lived in Canada and the US since he left Manchester University and this was his first Christmas visit for many years.
He went to Patcham School and Varndean and was a staunch member of the 30th Brighton Scouts.
We did not tell him until he saw it on Christmas Day. He was delighted - what a coincidence.
