I can only reply to Miss J Rabbitts (Letters, December 12) on behalf of Oxfam, where I work several days a week.
If clothes are not sold within a certain time, they are sent off to be recycled so nothing is wasted.
Other items, such as bric-a-brac and books, if not sold are passed on to other branches.
