Regarding Barbarina Wild ("Stranded teacher sleeps on train", December 2), although I sympathise with a woman on her own at night - which can be fraught with danger - as a disabled driver I cannot condone her use of a disabled driver's parking bay, especially as the rest of the car park was empty.
Disabled parking bays are put in for a purpose: The sole use of disabled drivers so the distances they walk are reduced.
I am a registered disabled person and a driver. It is most annoying to find a non-disabled driver occupying a disabled parking bay when one needs to park close to the shops or wherever one is going.
I live with pain as I, among thousands of other unfortunate people, suffer chronically with rheumatoid arthritis.
Ms Wild's car being clamped sends a clear message to the driving public in general.
Disabled parking bays are in operation 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and the penalty we disabled people pay for the privilege of using these bays is the pain we suffer all the time.
So, the message is, stay away from disabled parking bays if you are not a disabled driver.
If you choose to ignore this advice, it could cost you a considerable amount of money. Be warned.
Good on yer, clampers, keep up the good work.
