The season of goodwill is rapidly disappearing in British industry, with a growing number of firms cutting Christmas bonuses and benefits for most staff.
Research among 150 companies, employing 96,000 workers, showed today senior employees were often treated better than other workers.
Scrooge firms were operating a two-tier Christmas, reducing benefits for shopfloor workers but giving gifts and private dinners for senior staff, according to Labour Research magazine.
Christmas dinner in the canteen is the best most employees can expect - and even that may not be free.
