Flint Timber, based at Golden Cross, near Hailsham, has been bought by Alsford Timber, of Erith, Kent, for an undisclosed sum.
Managing director Mike Watson said Flint's shareholders had decided to withdraw from the timber sector to concentrate on developing their interests in property development.
The acquisition takes the number of Alsford branches to 17.
