Firefighters had to climb through a window to reach an elderly woman in distress.
She had called for an ambulance after complaining of breaking her hip at her home in Sussex Square, Brighton.
But she refused to open her door to paramedics and fire officers had to gain entry.
The woman was found to be uninjured.
