Australian police have visited Brighton travel agent Joanne Lees to further quiz her on the details of her boyfriend's murder.

Brighton University graduate Peter Falconio, 28, was killed 200 miles north of Alice Springs while on holiday with Miss Lees in July last year.

Detectives spent nine days in the UK questioning Miss Lees and speaking to Mr Falconio's family in Huddersfield.

They returned to Australia last week.

Mr Falconio is believed to have been shot when he got out of the couple's camper van, having been tricked into stopping by another motorist.

Miss Lees was then tied up and thrown into the back of the man's van, before managing to escape and hide in undergrowth.

Friends of arrested murder suspect Bradley Murdoch, 44, believe discrepancies in Miss Lees' story point to his innocence.

While Miss Lees described her attacker as being of medium height, Mr Murdoch is 6ft 4ins tall. Friends claim his dog is a Dalmatian, not a red heeler cattle dog as Miss Lees described.

They also allege Murdoch's truck had a sealed front cabin, making it impossible for Miss Lees to get into the back as she has stated.

Alice Springs police superintendent Colleen Gwynne is leading the Falconio taskforce and visited the UK with Detective Sergeant Megan Teague.

Supt Gwynne has refused to discuss details of the visit but police remain positive about their case against Murdoch.

Speaking at an Alice Springs Press conference on Monday, Northern Territory Assistant Commissioner John Daulby said they had a strong case.
