Eastbourne Town continued their marvellous start to the season in County League division two with a 4-0 defeat of Steyning Town.

Stefan Fuller scored a brace of headers and there was also a goal apiece for strike duo Yemi Odubade and Gary Brockwell as the leaders made it 15 games unbeaten in the league this season.

Victory put Town 11 points clear at the top, although second-placed Rye and Iden United have five games in hand.

Manager Dave Winterton was delighted with the result against a Steyning side who have caused a few upsets since being promoted last season.

Winterton said: "I thought it would be one of our toughest games so far but we played really well and got a good result.

"They are a strong, physical side but we more than matched them."

Town have now conceded just nine goals in 15 games and Winterton had special praise for goalkeeper Mark Oldroyd.

Winterton, a goalkeeper himself in his playing days, said: "As an ex-goalkeeper, I can say we look solid at the back, which is important.

"Mark Oldroyd has been in top form. He works hard in training, as all the players do, and that is a key to our success this season."

Odubade opened the scoring on 22 minutes and was then brought down for a penalty which Brockwell converted just before half time. Fuller twice nodded in from Brockwell corners in the second half.
