Jack Liebeck is a 22-year-old Londoner. He is still studying the violin at the Royal Academy of Music but not, I guess, for much longer.
He is a true prodigy and just blew my socks off with his performance of Bruch's first violin concerto with the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra.
His tone was sweet, his playing informed and full of wisdom. He took us to unknown heights with his mesmerising style.
This was a talent that shone, appearing like a combination of bright star and meteoric comet.
He was not brash or flamboyant, just very good with an ear for detail and an elegant, warm sound.
Conductor Gabriel Chmura led his men and women with an insistent baton that seemed to float in his hand.
He produced a mature and constant stream of music and was himself fully a part of it.
His reading of Beethoven's Coriolan Overture and Mahler's first symphony, The Titan, were flawless and flowing and, at times, almost ethereal in production.
