Worthing striker Mark Knee scored a hat-trick to help Rebels extend their winning run to five games.

Knee hailed the winning spirit at Woodside Road and warned their rivals the Rebels are out to prove they are the strongest Sussex side in Division One South.

Knee, who took his goal tally to 14 in the 3-1 home victory over Corinthian Casuals, said: "I'm really enjoying it now and I think we all are. It's brilliant at the moment, confidence is high, and now we turn up thinking we're going to win.

"Everyone knows their job and what they have to do. We are defending well, which was the problem at the start of the season, and we've given ourselves a chance of getting up the table."

Knee is revelling in his strike role having been switched from left back by manager Barry Lloyd last season.

He added: "Barry brought a few youngsters in to start with and it took a while for it to settle down.

"But it's going well and we are now looking to take points off the Sussex clubs, because I think we are the strongest from the county in this league."

Knee, who gave Worthing the lead from close range from a Florian Mateos pass on 32 minutes, doubled the advantage by ending a neat build-up ten minutes after the break.

The hat-trick goal came three minutes from time with Mateos again the provider.

Knee wasted two further opportunities to add to his tally before Simon Shergold rifled in Casuals' consolation.

Shergold should have put Casuals level shortly after Knee's opener when Andrew Beech conceded a penalty for nudging Justin Georgiou in the back. But Matthew May dived full length to his left to keep out the spot kick.
