Worthing Magic go on a revenge mission this weekend buoyed by success on the road.

Magic were 55-51 winners at Brixton Lady Top Cats in WNBL division two south, helped by 25 points from import player Kirsty Dallas.

That sets them up for a key home game with Taunton and the chance to avenge cup defeat.

Coach Phil Waghorn said: "We lost to Taunton in the cup but I think we are better than them. We need to prove that."

Taunton have won all three games in the league while Magic made it two from two with last Sunday's success in the capital.

Waghorn always felt it would be an awkward fixture but, with contributions from throughout the team, Magic took the points.

The coach added: "It was tough all the way through but we kept control and did enough. It was good to see everyone chipping in and doing their bit."

Tonight's game tips off at 5.45pm at Worthing Leisure Centre as curtain-raiser to Thunder's clash with Oxford.

Brighton Bears under-19s suffered frustration when Hackney White Heat failed to reach Durrington in time for their match. A truncated friendly was played instead.

Reading also failed to turn up as Bears under-14s staged a three-sided tournament at Angmering. That left the hosts and Tamar Valley to battle it out with Bears winning 79-46.

Across the Atlantic, this is a big weekend for Richard Midgley, the 19-year-old guard from Burgess Hill.

He will share duties at the point with highly-rated local boy AJ Diggs as he makes his Pac-10 debut for the University of California Golden Bears.

Midgley had to sit out last season as he was too old for high school action. Away results are expected to be crucial for Golden Bears, starting this weekend against New Mexico Lobos in Albuquerque.
