Finally, something is going to be done about parking in the Goldsmid area.
The increase in car ownership since the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 has turned pedestrian-friendly, quiet roads into congested, pollution-riddled parking lots.
Will the new regulations see the end of day-trippers parking cars all day, free of charge, and depriving local residents of car space?
One wonders why it has taken Brighton and Hove City Council so long to do something about this problem.
I think £200-300 for each parking space each year is not too much to charge.
The extra funds could help solve the problem of homelessness in Brighton and Hove, which is one of the worst in the country.
