Hastings United are planning another big FA Cup shock in Hertfordshire tomorrow.

United stunned Conference team Kettering 5-0 to book their place in the first round proper.

Next up are Stevenage, like Kettering struggling at the wrong end of the Conference table, and United are keen to cash in again on their superb form in the cup.

Hastings have never reached the first round in their 108-year history but there is plenty of incentive to break new ground.

A cash prize of £20,000 is on offer to the winners, plus the possibility of drawing a League team in the second round.

Hastings' giant goalkeeper Dave King, 26, who has kept 11 clean sheets in 21 games this term, said: "We are all very excited because most of us have never played in the first round of FA Cup.

"I don't see why we can't win. To beat Kettering 5-0 away in the last round was a great result and it has given the team a lot of confidence.

"Hopefully we can squeeze through at Stevenage and get a professional Second Division team in the next round."

There is no doubting United's form away from the Pilot Field, which must be of concern to Stevenage. They lost twice away in the league last season en route to Dr Martens eastern division title and have quickly adjusted to life in the Premier Division, are unbeaten in four games and are eighth in the table.

Manager George Wakeling said: "We'll do the same things on Saturday that we do in the league.

"The biggest problem is not having everyone fit for this very important game.

"However, if we keep our discipline and perform to the best of our abilities then we'll have a good chance."

Danny Simmonds (calf), striker Ellis Remy (hamstring) and midfielder Duncan McArthur (ankle) are expected to play.

Former Albion player Stuart Myall is definitely out with a knee injury he picked up in the third qualifying round against Hendon.

Stevenage bear little resemblance to the team which took Newcastle to a fourth round replay at St James's Park in February, 1998 where they went out 2-1.

They have not won at home for two months and manager Wayne Turner is under pressure.

Hastings will be helped by Turner's selection problems. Full-back Louis Riddle and striker Richard Pacquette are suspended and Martin Williams, Matt Fisher and Charlie McDonald are all out injured. Skipper Jason Goodliffe and Robin Trott are also fighting to be fit.

Despite struggling, Stevenage have won just four times in the league this season, Turner is sounding almost over-confident. He said: "The team I've got available will still be good enough. We've had Hastings watched a couple of times so I am sure of that."
