After weeks of disappointments, what ifs and a few controversies, last Saturday saw us get what we deserved, our first three points at The Withdean.

It was an excellent victory and all the more sweeter having Nicky Law once again suffer at the hands of the Albion. And even though we made it a bit of a nailbiter, it was one of our best performances and shows what we are capable of.

It was also good to see the Goal-den Child back on the scoresheet after a relative famine by his standards. And the only surprise was not seeing him get his hat-trick when clean through.

Though if he had any more match balls in his house, little Zeus would have to sleep in the garage. And I would also like to congratulate John Keeley's love child (Simon Rodger) on his first goal for the club and what a cracker it was.

I would also like to mention the atmosphere at The Withdean, as it was excellent, in spite of the terrible conditions and I don't know if it's just the British mentality but the horrendous weather just seemed to bring the best out of our fans, or it might just be that Albion fans are used to the odd storm and coming through it victorious.

Well, it will be ten days in between the last game and the clash at Molineux which has given us time to work on a few things, and to give those coming back from injury extra training, myself being one to benefit. By the time we play Wolves, almost everybody will be fit, which will give the gaffer plenty of options.

The only negative thing this week has been the postponement of the reserve fixtures, which has hampered the chances of anyone impressing the manager, which, as you can imagine, can be quite frustrating, especially when you're itching to get going. But it's a long season, so everybody will get their chance.

It's a massive game for everyone on Monday, and not just because it's on Sky, but these are the games that we've worked so hard to play in. A big ground, with good fans, and the bonus of the TV cameras.

So it gives us a chance to show people why we've won two championships. But I'm sure there will be plenty of sceptics who will watch with eager anticipation waiting for us to fall and then spout the immortal 'I told you so', which is something that we must not allow to happen as we, as a club, deserve these glamorous opportunities.

One of the lads was telling us he was trying to explain what Bonfire Night was to his little one. He said: "It's a special occasion that only comes once a year and where the family sets off fireworks to celebrate."

In Robbie Pethick's house, they call that Bath Night. And after reading Robbie's Q & A in the Sports Argus last week, I was surprised to read that his ideal night would be a quiet one at home with his family.

Well, it would hardly be quiet with the Hoover going, the oven pinging and the iron doing overtime, now would it, Rob?

Also Kitts was telling us about the film Insomnia the other day, when Will Packham said, "I've seen it, but I've forgotten what it's about", then waited for everyone to laugh. He obviously got insomnia mixed up with amnesia and looked a right plonker.

Thursday saw us all come in fresh ready to train with plenty of enthusiasm. Then Bob came to take us for our warm-up and what a warm-up it was.

There was clapping and checking and no one had a Scooby what was going on. After a few shambolic minutes, it was called off with a bit of choice language.

Now Bob likes to freshen things up by reading the coaching manual but he must have been reading Mike Bassett's autobiography for that one. No offence, Bob, as your sessions are normally quality, just that one was minging.

And finally, I'd like to thank the Fish brothers for sending me two CDs of their work for us to play in the dressing room.
