Legends of heads-down rock and ska-reggae come to Sussex this week, along with Brixton's quirkiest party people.

ALABAMA 3, Concorde 2, Brighton, November 3
These eccentric and politicised bods, named after three US activists slaughtered by the Ku Klux Klan, play the venue high from their success with The Soprano's theme tune, Woke Up This Morning. Now, Brixton's legendary party people are back with double-sided dancefloor monster The Devil Went Down To Ibiza and a third album. Tickets cost £10. Call 01273 772770.

DESMOND DEKKER, Concorde 2, Brighton, November 6
The seminal rock-steady and reggae figure is still best known for his 1969 Top Ten hit, The Israelites, which he recorded with his band, The Aces. Now a household name, he has recorded only two albums since his career was revitalised by the British ska revival in the late Seventies. Tickets cost £10. Call 01273 772770.

STATUS QUO, Brighton Centre, November 1
Stone-washed rock 'n' roll from the band that long ago arranged an amicable separation from fashion. But, the Quo are still a hugely-successful group with a string of hits under their belts. Expect the ageing rockers to churn out all those old guitar-led classics. Tickets cost £28.50. Call 0870 9009100.
