Budding racing driver Lloyd Biddulph hopes to make a return to karting next month.

The 10-year-old from Franklands Village had taken a year out of serious racing to prepare for entry into the Champions of the Future series for 2003.

Also known as the SuperOne Championship, it is recognised as the premier event in karting and many Formula One drivers have started here, including the late Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher and David Coulthard.

More than 500 competitors take part in SuperOne, which means you have to qualify to get in. You also have to be 11 years old to enter, hence Biddulph taking a year off.

Several experts have tipped Biddulph as a star of the future but his preparations have been hampered by an unfortunate injury.

Lloyd, who has been very successful in Honda and Open Cadet karting, had been due to start his training in the new kart when he suffered a serious leg injury in June when playing football in a kickaround with his schoolteachers.

The leg is now healing and Biddulph hopes to return to action next action to begin the countdown to qualifying for Champions of the Future.
