Running a high-profile concern such as Brighton and Hove Bus and Coach Company always opens one to personal attack but Mrs Lefelle's second such effort in as many weeks (Letters, October 4) making outlandish personal remarks against me and, by implication, all the hard-working staff of this company is really a step too far.
Providing an efficient and effective bus service in a congested city is no easy task. We know we are by no means perfect but strive to do better every day.
The huge investment we continue to make in new buses every year, the increase in frequencies of key routes and the innovative fare and marketing strategies have all contributed towards a consistent increase in the number of passenger journeys for the past decade - a feat no other bus company has achieved and one that naturally creates interest when the bus industry celebrates good practice by making awards.
Mrs Lefelle's insinuation that we are "profiteers" out to make a quick buck from stricter parking regulations is complete nonsense.
-Roger French, managing director, Brighton and Hove Bus and Coach Company
