Pete McCarthy, Corn Exchange, October 11, 7.30pm (tickets £12/£10)

Wander-lusting television and radio presenter McCarthy relives the experience of a road trip around Ireland while the audience holds the map. The local comedian's outlook on life is a guaranteed crowd pleaser.

Dylan Moran, Corn Exchange, October 11, 9.30pm (tickets £12/£10)

A Perrier Award winner in 1996 and the star of Channel 4's hugely successful sitcom Black Books, Dylan Moran has an eccentric and articulate sense of humour. Playing with the absurdity of life, his humour is wonderfully funny, touching and utterly daft.

Jeremy Hardy, Corn Exchange, October 8 and 14, 7.30pm (tickets £12/£10)

Political satirist and former Perrier award winner Jeremy Hardy is here to tickle your turnips big time. As well as starring in three series of his own Radio 4 show Jeremy Hardy Speaks To The Nation, he is also a regular panellist on I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue.

Gina Yashere, Pavilion Theatre, October 10 and 11, 7.30pm (tickets £10/£9)

Laughs come easy with this energetic performer with a love for raucous subject matter and devastating one-liners. An undisputed crowd-pleaser, Yashere has just completed a 30-date sell-out tour and a run in the infamous Vagina Monologues in the West End. She has also made numerous TV appearances, including Jo Brand's Hot Potatoes and 4x4. Yashere's material ranges from brilliantly-realised discussions about her Nigerian origins and familiar topics like Animal Hospital to occasional sexual innuendos and "aren't men crap" stuff for the easy laugh. Her bombastic style and sheer energy is interspersed with observational comments on everything from TV to world issues.

Amused Moose Comedy's Hot Starlets, Pavilion Theatre, October 11, 6pm (tickets £10/£9)

See the stars of tomorrow today in this showcase of talent straight from the Edinburgh Fringe. Highlights include high-energy Irish-Iranian Geordie Patrick Monahan (Guilford Comedy Festival winner), the fantastic Nina Conti (BBC New Comedy Award winner) and the whimsical Welshman Mark Watson (Daily Telegraph Open Mic winner). Jerry Sadowitz, Pavilion Theatre, October 8-10, 9.30pm (£12/£10), and October 11-12, 11.30pm (£12/£10)

This comedian/magician has gathered a cult following with his controversial humour. The Glaswegian will perform two shows, the first including magic and the second stand-up.

John Hegley, Pavilion Theatre, October 8-9, 7.30pm (£12/10)

The bespectacled one uses his comic verse to share hilarious musings on subjects including a trip to France, painting, romance and blancmange. Expect caustic comedy in its most poetic form.

Adam Hills, Pavilion Theatre, October 11, 9.30pm (£10/£9)

Friendly and enthusiastic, Oz's top comedian will make you his best friend in seconds with his amiable style.
