I have been abroad for 14 years but, through the thisisbrightonandhove web site, I read the local news with interest and keep up to date with how the city is progressing.

How glad I am to see Brighton and Hove has at last decided on its priorities and adorned buildings with rings and studs.

What a fantastic way to spend time and energy - far more productive than addressing issues such as rubbish collection, crime and the general state of the parks and gardens.

I would also be interested if anyone can explain how rings through people - or buildings, for that matter - is culturally astute. Or have I been away too long?
