A motorway shunt caused massive tailbacks on the A27 at Brighton during this morning's rush hour.
The accident, involving at least three cars, left the eastbound slip road between the A27 and A23 partially closed for almost two hours.
No one was injured in the shunt, believed to be between a Vauxhall Astra, a Honda Civic and a red Fiat.
The jams stretched back about a mile, past the Devil's Dyke turning and along King George VI Avenue leading into Hove.
The cause of the accident is not yet known, although wet weather may have been a factor.
