The recent proposals aiming at curbing street drinking are nonsensical.

Instead of looking at the real problem, which is educating the public about sensible drinking from an early age, the authorities just want to remove the problem from visibility, driving it further underground.

Is that a responsible attitude to take? To my mind, drinking may be harmful to the individual but the individual will not learn this by having rigid authoritarian views imposed on him by the well-meaning but misguided policies being pursued here.
