High-flying Horsham were held to a 1-1 draw by Epsom and Ewell at Banstead in a match they should have won.

The Hornets created the early chances in the Division One (South) clash with Eddie French's header from a corner acrobatically tipped over by Epsom keeper Dave Hyatt after only seven minutes.

Epsom took the lead against the run of play after 28 minutes when James Hall was played through on goal and dinked the ball over advancing goalkeeper Ian Chatfield.

The ball sailed wide of the post but Chatfield then collided with the forward and the referee pointed to the spot, Paul Bunter converting the penalty.

Horsham levelled six minutes from time when a long ball was flicked on in the area and French headed home.

Meanwhile, Bognor were thwarted by the in-form keeper James Mercer as they were held to a goalless draw by hosts Dulwich Hamlet.

David Birmingham hit the bar while Mercer denied Jodey Rowland, Steve Leigh and Matt Russell as the Rocks dominated the chances.

Late in the game a short corner created an opening for the Rocks but Kevin Murphy flicked his header wide.
