Brighton and Hove wishes to become a Capital of Culture. Culture is synonymous with intellect, so there must surely be debate about what kind of intellect is possessed by the individuals who suggested moving the Nigel Porter Breast Care Unit to Haywards Heath - certainly not the sort of intellect I would aspire to.

Women and children in a civilised society ought to be put first. I hear they are knocking down the Royal Alexandra Hospital for Sick Children as well.

So, who is putting what first in this city? The health and welfare of its women and children? I don't think so.

The culture being promoted in Brighton and Hove does not appear to benefit family life. Has anyone looked into the question of whether certain other clinics might be moved with less trauma or damage to families?

Until we have a complete change of culture and intellect within Brighton and Hove City Council and its PCT, nothing will change.
