Conflict: Desert Storm for the Play Station 2 mirrors the current Middle East crisis.
It is a third-person shooter set in 1991 when Iraq invaded Kuwait and we all got involved.
Your job is to take control of an elite force of either an SAS or Delta Force squad commander for missions that involve much sneaking around, blowing things up and bagging some "badguys".
Assignments include hostage extractions in Kuwait City and hunts for Scud missile sites in the desert, all wellrealised and nicely detailed.
You are led through the training level by an over-zealous drill instructor. Then the missions become increasingly difficult, while ammunition and medical packs dwindle away, which may prove frustrating but adds to the realism factor.
The extensive set of controls takes a while to get a handle on but perserverance pays off.
There is much enjoyment to be had from swapping between being a heavy weapons specialist, sniper and combat engineer.
It may also take your mind off the madness in the real world for few hours.
