Consultation on an ambitious £400 million regeneration package to revive two seaside towns will begin next month.

An eight-page document explaining the proposals for Hastings and Bexhill will be widely distributed.

Meetings with various community groups will be held in Robertson Street, Hastings, to discuss the blueprint being fleshed out by planners.

Cabinet members on Labour-led Hastings Borough Council are expected to welcome the consultation plans when they meet on Monday night.

They comprise the most significant investment the area has known and has been lauded as the package to lift Hastings above 27th in the UK deprivation index.

It includes plans to transform eyesore buildings and disused land, create much-needed quality housing and a new modern business centre.

But the centrepiece is a university, based at several sites throughout the town, which council bosses hope will make Hastings a rival to Brighton.

The cabinet meeting is being held at New Horizons School, in Beauchamp Road, St Leonards, from 6.30pm.
