Money went up in smoke after a fire broke out in a Sussex cash dispenser.
Firefighters were called to Lloyds TSB in London Road, St Leonards, last night after a call saying the cash machine was smoking.
When they arrived they had to force their way into the bank and put out a small fire.
The building was empty at the time and no one was hurt.
Investigators were looking into the cause of the fire.
