Dave Heal, the British Superbike Series privateer champion of two years ago, is making a return to Superbike action.

He has been offered a chance to resume his career.

Heal, 36, quit top level racing last winter after failing to secure a ride in this year's series.

Instead, the Heathfield star has been taking part in Supermoto racing, a new form of motorsport which combines track and off-road racing.

Although he is thoroughly enjoying Supermoto racing, Heal jumped at the chance when the newly formed Team Discovery Racing asked him to compete in the remaining rounds of the British Superbike Series.

Heal makes his comeback in the MRO Championship at Snetterton this weekend.

He said: "We are just doing this one to test the bike out. I will be meeting their people and taking it from there but they want me to do the remaining rounds of the British Superbike Series.

"They have big plans for me and have the finances to do it, so it looks like a relaunch of my career."

At the latest round of the NORA Supermoto championship, Heal finished eighth overall out of an entry of 165.

Richard Freshwater (Peacehaven) took one win in class C and finished 14th overall in the B group, while Gus Robbins (Hastings) took a victory in class E and finished fifth overall in group D.
