Coach Peter Moores believes his Sussex players will be 'embarrassed' into improving their dismal National League form.

A fourth defeat in six games against Middlesex last week sent the Sharks to the bottom of Division Two ahead of tomorrow's game against Hampshire Hawks at West End (1pm).

He said: "We are a better one-day side than one which is bottom of the table. The embarrassment factor should be incentive enough for the players to start putting in better performances."

Moores has resisted the temptation to change a side who have scored just two half-centuries between them so far.

He believes that the form of key trio Richard Montgomerie, Murray Goodwin and Chris Adams, who have just one score above 30 between them so far, will improve.

"They have been working hard on their game in the last few days and when good players give that much they can't help but be successful sooner rather than later," added Moores.

Moores still believes they are capable of finishing in one of the three promotion positions.

He said: "I wouldn't target winning it anymore, but the third spot is still an option."
