Parents have been taken to court because their children are truanting from school.

There has also been one particular case of school phobia. I wonder if parents are aware they can quite legally educate their children at home and that no particular qualifications are necessary?

Local education authorities may vaguely supervise standards but rarely take any further action. Neither the National Curriculum nor exams are required. You can take children out of school just by giving the school notice.
