A clubber is still fighting for a refund on her tickets after a club night's anniversary party turned into chaos.

Chris Johnson wrote to the organisers of The Boutique's birthday gig immediately after the event to ask for the £187 she spent on seven tickets to be refunded.

She is angry her money has still not been returned more than eight weeks later.

About 2,500 people paid to watch Fatboy Slim headline the gig at the newly-refurbished Dome complex in Brighton in April.

Although 1,500 people could watch acts in the Corn Exchange, only 1,000 at a time were able to get into the Dome Concert Hall to see the main DJs.

People were left angry and frustrated and security staff had to stop people from pushing their way in.

One steward said clubbers tried to storm the doors after realising they would not get back in if they left the room to go to the toilet. Several chose to urinate against the walls rather than leave.

Ms Johnson, of Wilbury Villas, Hove, said: "At the end of the day we paid our money and we did not get what we wanted out of the evening.

"It was not our mistake, it was their mistake and we just want our money back."

Many clubbers said they had to queue for more than an hour during the night to get back in the main auditorium after leaving to get a drink or go to the lavatory.

Security staff even resorted to throwing bottles of water to overheating dancers who refused to leave because they thought they would not get back in the hall.

Ms Johnson said she was only able to spend about an hour listening to the two DJs because of the difficulty getting back in.

She said: "I have never experienced anything like it and I'm amazed to think they have not offered us the money back."

A spokeswoman for Boutique, which organised the night jointly with the Dome, said only a few people had asked for refunds and clubbers who stayed for the entire evening enjoyed the event.

She said many clubbers who complained had accepted alternative tickets. Boutique was in final discussions with the Dome about paying refunds to those who wanted their money back.

She said: "We are doing our damnedest to get this sorted out as quickly as we possibly can. We are desperate to get it cleared up as well."
