An award-winning garden will be turned into a menagerie for the day with a visit by more than 50 mammals, birds and reptiles.

Children should love the themed day which takes place at Borde Hill Garden near Haywards Heath on May 12.

Youngsters will also have the opportunity to pet some of the more cuddly animals and get close to bats, snakes and lizards.

There will also be circus performers, falcon displays, dog-agility sessions, fly-fishing demonstrations and a craft and gift marquee.

There will also be a fair with a Punch and Judy, plus fire-eating, juggling and unicycling workshops, a hot air balloon and tractor and quad bike rides around the 200-acre estate.

Adults may enjoy the May Motivation Day which takes place at King's Manor School on May 11.

The day is being held by Shoreham and Southwick Adult Education Centre and allows participants to try their hand at a new skill which could lead to taking part in a regular class.

Classes include a Tai Chi workshop, learning about classical board games from around the world, glass painting, Indian cookery, picture framing, modern jive for beginners, creative writing for beginners and much more.

For those more interested in musical entertainment, folk singer Maddy Prior will be performing at Lewes' All Saints Centre on May 14.

With a reputation as a highly original songwriter and interpreter of traditional song, Prior is joined by her daughter Rose Kemp and singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Abbie Lathe.

The trio will be focusing on harmonious vocals while turning their talents to a variety of traditional and contemporary material.
