Sussex No.1 Ritchie Venner is looking forward to the final British Grand Prix of the season after finishing his season in style.

After winning the Seaman Cup for the tenth time a fortnight ago, he struck peak form again to take the Hollington Open.

After disappearing from the fixture list in the last two seasons, the Hollington event has been resurrected thanks to a new sponsor, the Hastings accountancy firm Gibbons and Mannington.

In the final, Venner showed his authority with extra speed and spin to stop Andy Walker 3-0. Earlier Walker inflicted a Seaman Cup revenge defeat on Peter Bartram, 3-1.

Venner has been seeded No.6 at Cheltenham this weekend for the last British Grand Prix event of the season.

In the Southern Masters at Bracknell, Sheila King (Hastings) won a silver medal after just losing in the women's doubles final 11-6 in the fifth game to the top seeds Helen Shields and Brenda Buoey. Her partner was Jenny Harrison, from Essex.

The Sussex Table Tennis Association have voted for Sussex Veterans to be allowed four teams in the County Championships.

If they wish to run an over-60s team they are required to drop their fourth side.
