A councillor has called on Brighton and Hove's graffiti squad to clean up street furniture in her ward.

Vandals have daubed tags on almost every green box on pavements in Cromwell Road, Davigdor Road and adjoining streets in Hove.

Liberal Democrat councillor Jenny Barnard-Langston has asked Brighton and Hove City Council's graffiti busters to intervene.

She said: "A continued and concerted effort to clean up the graffiti will eventually act as a deterrent.

"Some private properties are now being subject to attacks because, I believe, the perpetrators believe their tags will remain on show for some time.

"If it is removed as soon as it appears, the offenders will eventually stop."

She has offered to meet the city council's waste contracts officer to discuss the problem.
