Sussex skipper Chris Adams believes his side can make the most of home advantage when they face Warwickshire in the quarter-finals of the Benson and Hedges Cup.

The county secured a Hove date in the last eight for the third successive year after a thrilling victory over Surrey yesterday. Both teams made 220, but Sussex won because they had lost one fewer wicket.

The Bears will head south on either May 21 or 22 and Adams believes his young side will relish the challenge.

"We're an up and coming side and the experience of winning a tight game will give us a lot of confidence," he said.

"It was important we won to secure a home tie although we know Warwickshire are going to be a tough team to beat.

"Shaun Pollock is obviously a big name for them, but they have good cricketers throughout their team although it's been a while since they were a force in one-day cricket.

"But we have got a young team who are doing the business at the moment and it was nice to win yesterday with guys like Will House, Mark Davis and Mike Yardy out there at the end, it shows the depth in batting we have now."

Billy Taylor took a hat-trick when he removed James Ormond, Philip Sampson and former Sussex bowler Ed Giddins as Surrey were bowled out for 220 despite 97 from Alistair Brown.

The man of the match award went to off-spinner Mark Davis who took 2-47 and then smashed 15 off ten balls at the end to steer Sussex to a thrilling victory in front of a crowd of 3,000.

Davis said: "I didn't bowl well in my first spell, but I came back well and I was pleased with my control.

"I haven't had to bat too much so far this season so it was nice to make a contribution and obviously it was a great game to win, especially as it's given us a home tie. It will be great to play here at Hove again hopefully in front of a big crowd."

Sussex face Bradford/Leeds UCCE in a three-day game at Hastings starting tomorrow (11am), but most of their big guns will be rested ahead of Sunday's opening Norwich Union League game against Derbyshire.

Paul Hutchison is regaining full fitness after suffering sore shins and may play providing he comes through a fitness test today.

Krishnah Singh will make his debut in the middle order and there could also be an opportunity for Academy leg-spinner Conrad Mumby if Hutchison is forced to sit it out.

Sussex: Clapp, Zuiderent, Carpenter, House, Singh, Prior, Innes, Hopkinson, Lewry, Havell, Hutchison or Mumby.
