Glyn White has warned his in-form St Leonards team not to expect any favours from neighbours Hastings in the eastern division run-in.

Three successive wins have helped Saints away from the relegation zone, but White wants one more victory to be certain of avoiding the drop.

Leaders Hastings have four games remaining, the last two of which are against relegation-threatened Wisbech and Ashford.

But White thinks they may have already won the title by then and could relax.

He said: "I'm not looking for any favours from Hastings. We have to worry about ourselves, if we get another three or four points then it doesn't matter what anybody else does."

Victory over Erith and Belvedere on Monday night lifted Saints to 16th on 44 points, seven more than they got last year when they avoided relegation. White said: "I think 45 points will be enough, but it would be nice to get another three points and push on up the table.

"To finish 12th or 13th would be great for the club after the trouble we have been in. It is in our hands which is the main thing. People were saying after the Hastings game that we were down, apart from the players, who have always believed that they won't go down."

St Leonards were bottom last month after six successive defeats, culminating in a 4-0 drubbing at home by Hastings.

White, who has changed the team significantly since taking over in November, believes three signings in particular have proved crucial.

He said: "Three additions to the squad, Peter McCann, Richard Callaway and Dominic Barclay have made the difference."
