It is good to see the Millview Hospital complex is nearly completed and the health authority is to be congratulated on an excellent job.

However, I am wondering if there is any land to spare to build an inter-denominational chapel, perhaps dedicated to St Luke, as a place where people could go to pray and receive pastoral help from a priest or minister.

Perhaps occasional healing services could be held.

Brighton General Hospital had a fine chapel until it was turned into a restaurant and the Sussex County's chapel is right at the centre of the old building.

The hospital chapel at Hellingly was a prominent building and provided a spiritual resource for many generations of patients.

The NHS and other bodies recognise the importance of the spiritual in the healing of the whole person and many patients, their friends and relatives would find a place where they could pray and seek spiritual counsel of immense value.

It is possible the building of such a chapel could be funded by voluntary contributions, especially from the churches and would arouse nearly as much interest as the Martlets Hospice.
